12:03 pm - yet another year passed..
and i am getting old :( Not much achievement in 2007. But, can't deny few of the factors about the year.

Few flashbacks about 2007.
* Started the year by riding the bike alone for ~500kms on Jan 1st, from Dharwad to Bengaluru.
* First foreign trip. Went to Venezuela.
* Went to Divas, first of this kind for me (ask me about it personally) :p
* Made my own record of riding ~700kms on bike, for more than 15hrs in a day. (Trip to Kanyakumari)
* Learned 4 wheeler driving, got license.
* Got 3 visa stamps in the year, Venezuela, France (for transit), H1B for US.
* After a long time, gained more than 5kgs of weight (this is without my hair :p)

Other than these.. not much to mention publically.

About resolutions for this year 2008,
* Reduce drinking alcohol (I am not a regular drunkard, but still, thinking of leaving that small part)
* Get a hold on photography
* Learn cooking (as I may have to live alone for some time this year)
* Read more books and start writing.. (short stories etc).

I know i don't respect resolutions.. but still i will try :)

Belated Wishes for you on new year 2008.

6:14 pm - h1b
I have US visa, type H1B stamped on my passport now. It was quite a simple interview after standing for hours in queue to get to the counter. I went in my casual jeans + half sleeves shirt, with regular Reebok sport shoe to interview. With a light beard and long hair, I was certain they wont give me visa if they go by the looks :p And one more thing is if you wear such a dress in for US Visa interview, you look like alien in the crowd, as more than 90% of the crowd will be wearing formals+tie etc etc :O

Anyways, without much fuss my Interview was over. My interview question and answers went something like below:

She: Hello
Me: Hi
... collects my documents and just had a glance.
She: So, What type of research you do?
Me: On Super computers and Super Storage
... some pause
She: So, which university degree do you have for doing this research?
Me: Bachelors of Computer Science... oh! sorry.. Bachelors of Engineering in ComputerScience.
She: is it a 3yrs degree or 4yrs
Me: 4yrs
She: So, where are these Super computers used?
Me: In field related to Petrol and gas, webservices, etc
... some pause
She: You are working in the same company here?
Me: yes
She: how long since you joined Z Research
Me: 1yr 8months
She: What is Z Research known in India?
Me: Zillion Research India, as we couldn't register Z Research here
She: Oh! ok
.. some pause
She: Sir! your visa is approved.
Me: Thank you

Thus I came out of the crowded place happily.

4:25 pm - donating blood
Yesterday attended a pre-blood donation talk. Just thought will make a note of what i got to know, as it was quite informative.

Who can donate blood?

* People above 45kgs
* Hemoglobin % in blood should be greater than 12.
* People with age group 18-60

Some more info about blood donation:

* When you donate blood, they take 350ml of it.
* It takes 7-8mins to take that amount of blood from your body, and after that you need 15mins complete rest.
* Our body can regenerate that much blood within one day (ie, 24hours)
* On the same day of donating blood, you can't participate in sports, or should not work out. Should not lift heavy weights
* Drink *more* water that day.

Ok! about other things go behind the screen:

* A bottle of blood taken out of body should be used before 35 days.
* If one thinks that a blood cell produced in the body will stay forever, he is wrong. Amount of blood our body looses for 120days (or 4months) is 400ml.
* One can donate blood with a gap of minimum 3months(for male) 4months(for females). But advice is time is 6months.

* You save life, hence a satisfaction.
* You are safe from high cholesterol in your blood if you keep donating blood every 6months, and hence no heart related diseases

If you have more doubts, leave a comment. Or, you can also contact a near by blood bank for more details.

12:05 pm - parking.. without engine on :O
Yesterday Avati somehow got mood to repair his jeep. It was running fine. We were supposed to attend a mid night conf call, so, took out the jeep. he asked me 'do you want to drive?' I said yes. For your info, it was the first time (other than my driving class car) I am driving a four wheeler vehicle. It was fun. Its an experience to have in life. riding open jeep (even the front glass was down) on empty south end road was so cool. Went on RV Road, took a turn, went to sajjan rao circle. then to our office. Just went in to get the VoIP device from office. Came back, inserted the key, tried ignition, grrr.. grrr.. jeep didn't start. Tried again.. and it doesn't.
Oh! It was 12Am already, and we thought, we will park the car at office parking place :O, it was near gate, some 20mts away from parking place.. Now, only we two were present there. The effort we put to push it to the parking lot was _too_ much. We had to push little front, and rotate the wheel, and push it backwards, turn the wheel, push it front. Oh! it took almost 1hr for us to park it reasonably in shape in our parking lot. We both were drenched with sweat, and our arms, shoulders were complaining that they are about to go on 'asahakar' strike :O
It was yet another incident with the Mea 6645 :O other experiances being, trip to ooty, mysore->bangalore trip etc..

12:32 pm - OMG!!! 25 completed :O
Another year passed by. This year was good in some sense. I traveled in air for the first time. Visited other country for first time. Most of my trips were for other states. (Pune, Kanyakumari+Kerala, Pondy, Chennai etc). And few more first times in life.

Overall, life not so interesting yet. Looking forward for another year..

1:59 pm - Entering Indian supercomputer market
Wipro Infotech and ZResearch Inc becomes Partners

Now, the future starts looking bright. As Wipro has very good market reach in India, the brand of ZResearch Inc going to be quite popular soon :) For that matter, wipro's marketing team itself is much bigger than whole of our company :D

This news also means, I will be quite busy for some more time :|

12:13 am - some travelling
Shivanasamudra :
On 15th August, 2 cars(alto, ikon), 9 ppl(avati, gowda, teju, ane, bhukamp, koLi, pinka, honnu, me). Just went to Gaganachukki, there was a big traffic jam to reach barachukki. so, came back.

JogFalls and more:
Left b'lore on 16th night, in two cars (alto and ikon), while going we were 8ppl (kris, avati, naga, pammu, gowda, vikki, ritu and me). This was special in some sense as this is the first time, our gang went with a girl. Thanks to ritu, who decided to join us, even though she didn't knew anyone there other than me.
On 17th morning we had breakfast in sagar and went to my native. We all rested for a while and after getting up, had bath, and lunch. after lunch left to JogFalls. My bro Shreedhar and cousin Anil joined us. For our disappointment there was not much water at Jog. But it was royal enough to enjoy. We all went down to the bottom. While coming back, we were the last one. Thanks to Ritu.
That day night, gowda went back to his native, with Vikki. Bhatta joined us after that (~10pm). After that we played poker till 2.30am, After that we spoke about lots of interesting things till 4am. Later slept. Next day it was noon when everyone got up.
Again on 18th, went to Jog in the evening, this time it was not the 'neeru' which was of interest, but 'neere' :p anyways, covered raja seat and went to british bunglow this time. Also saw the waterfalls, sleeping on the rock. It was a great feeling. While getting back home, spent some time watching lights on the dam from the top of the valley. In the night, after dinner went for a walk. It was awesome as ppl started telling stories one after another about ghosts etc. Ritu was scared to the core. After getting back home, lots of things happened. Gowda stole the show beating others hands down. It was totally fun.
Next day, we went on hill next to my place, watched linganamakki backwaters. There we had a session of dancing by raksha (my cousin) and gowda :) for videos contact me :p

Photos here -> http://picasaweb.google.com/basavanagowda/JogaJalapaata

Overall a very good trip.

9:22 am
Its really hard for me to write 5 points about me. Never think much about myself, but will give it a try. (harusha has tagged me).

* Traveling:
I like traveling, may be its just walking(in sense of trekking), riding bike, sitting in car, bus or train. I hardly get sleep when i am traveling. I like to see places, nature, culture and people with difference.

* Money:
I don't have 'savings', 'investments' and planing (wr.to finance) in my dictionary. I never think much about anything related to money.

* Friends:
Friends are best part of my life. I value each friend. I know each one of them are special. I try to keep in touch with as many as possible, but still I know, I am not very good at it. I believe in unconditional friendship.

* Books:
I am fond of books, I respect them, I read them, I think about them.

* No 'no':
Telling 'no' is very difficult for me. If something can be done by me, i am ready to do it.

Passing on to those who don't get tagged :p so, if you are not yet tagged, assume you are tagged from me, and write 5 points about yourself.

current mood: awake

6:57 am - life style
from last 4 days to my surprise my lifestyle has become too good.. (this is with reference to what doctors say).

I get up at 5AM (or 30mins earlier :O)..
work for some 1hr or so*, later eat something (biscuit or banana) do some exercises.. read newspaper/books. watch tv (news/songs/sports), have regular breakfast around 8am.. goto office. lunch at around 1.30-2pm. sleep for 1-2hrs at office. have tea/snacks. work till 8-9pm*. come back home. watch tv, have dinner, work for a while*.. read book.. sleep around 12-12:30AM.

Never thought I would have such a life style for more than 1 day in my life :O Neverever gotup around 4:30AM in recent times (ofcourse its so common that i goto bed during that time or even later :O)

Something happened to me.. surprisingly i am enjoying it too.. day looks so long if i get up so early.

* for people who don't know about work of me, its something like this.
- Use IRC, talk to people.
- documentation, its on wiki so everyone can see what i do :)
- log in to some user's machine, see whats the bug they get.
- run glusterfs, use gdb, run some applications (I/O intensive) on GlusterFS.
- bug fixes, code review etc etc.
- some coding ('some' may become lot for few, few for lot) :D

current mood: surprised

1:56 am - Accident
Accidents keeps happening everyday, every moment. But till now they were all for others. I never had any serious accidents. But today it was my turn to meet with an Accident. The worse part is that I was slow (~40) when it happened :O
Luckily I didn't get much injuries, just some small scratches on leg, one on hand. Overall just one dressing needed. But the sad part is my best friend got very much injured.. oh! he as in my enfield. its handles are bent, headlights screwed up, tank got a dent,  rpm and speedmeter got screwed up.

High time to go for an 4 wheeler :O But anyways.. i won't stop riding bike.

1:32 am - Roland Garros 2007
For the uninitiated... its also known as French Open Tennis (One of the four GrandSlam Tournaments).
I was watching men's semifinals today.
* Federer Vs Davydenko :  7-5, 7-6, 7-6
* Nadal Vs Djokovic  : 7-5, 6-4, 6-2
Looked like Federer was struggling a little, but Nadal was too terrific.

Waiting for the finals on Sunday, as a Federer fan, I support him, but it will be very difficult to beat Nadal on clay court. Have to wait and see what happens..

/me prays for Federer's first frenchopen winning.

current mood: sleepy
